On Oct. 31, students at Ewing Community Preschool celebrated Halloween and embraced the fall harvest season with new traditions.
This year’s Halloween parade was followed by a sing-a-long about fruits and veggies. The students also listened to a story about Magistra, a magical character who lives far away in Garden Land tending the fruits, vegetable, nuts and berries that help children grow strong and healthy. Instead of sugary treats, each child received a goodie bag with apples, pears and grapes.
Ewing Community Preschool has partnered with the non-profit “Let’s Help Let’s Move” (LHLM), an organization dedicated to encouraging healthy lifestyles in children at a very young age, when they are most receptive to adopting patterns of behavior and food preferences.
Ewing Community Preschool owner, Annette Fitzsimmons praised Let’s Help Let’s Move “for their efforts to promote Early Childhood Health Education and for helping our child-care establishment to become a health-oriented learning center.”
Larissa Sawicki, Founder of Let’s Help Let’s Move, organized the event along with LHLM members Kersti Jacobson, Vladimir Fetbroyt, and Johnson George. The celebration was sponsored by Wegman’s Corporation, Xerox Corporation, Cricket League of NJ, Blue Ink Studio and PCBWrite.com.
